Carroll and guest Walter Chun discuss Environmental Action Levels, or EALs, and how they relate to Red Hill fuel tanks and military bases, and water and soil contamination.
Walter Chun is an engineer. While working on a construction project at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, he found contaminated soil. Walter tells us about EALs and what happened when he reported the issue. What he has learned, and Carroll confirms from his research, allowable EAL's are sometimes increased, without public comment, when problems are found during soil and water testing. Walter has been sending complaints to state agencies, legislators, and congressional representatives since 2006. Over 100 military families on Kaneohe Marine Corps Base and Hickam Air Force Base have complained about illnesses but nothing has been done. Listen to Carroll's show of February 19, 2012, where he discussed the issues.
