Carroll discusses Furlough Fridays, the sit-in, our education system and our government with members of Save Our Schools Hawaii - Marguerite Higa, Carrie Lau, Michael Doyle, Jill Tao and Mary Weir. They were surprised anyone would "take school away from kids to save a few bucks", and they did something about it, including enduring made-up rules as you go and arrests during their sit-in in the Governor's office.
Other than Lyla Byrd and Gary Hooser, who were outraged by the situation when furloughs were first proposed, and the Abercrombie team who tried bringing them food during the sit-in (and were turned away) they received little help from the governor or legislators. In fact, they were told it was not an important issue, the deal was already done and nothing could be done.....
