Carroll is now broadcasting on the Internet at www.talk808.com. Listen live on Sunday mornings, 9-11 a.m. We want to hear from you. Call 808-782-6627 to participate.
Carroll talks more about the TMT protest and telescopes at Mauna Kea. First he talks about the response he received regarding the cooking pans collecting hydraulic oil he talked about last week. Today he talks about documents regarding past maintenance of the underground storage tanks (USTs) holding fuel, used by the telescope facilities on the summit of Mauna Kea.
Carroll asks, why build another telescope if they cannot properly handle what the have.
As an environmentalist, Carroll is particularly concerned about the environment on Mauna Kea and is researching how the University of Hawaii and the telescope community is handling Mauna Kea. The USTs on Mauna Kea are single-wall tanks that were supposed to be inspected and upgraded. Carroll talks about the tanks and the documents he recovered regarding inspections, rules, past violations, and fines. See the attached documents.
