Regarding Tarey Low Investigation

On June 19, 2014, Carroll Cox of "The Carroll Cox Show" issued a media alert reporting allegations that a former high ranking Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources official on the Island of Kauai was being investigated for alleged sex offenses against two minor females. The report alleges that the sexual assaults against the two females occurred for several years. Also, this same official is being investigated for possible firearms violations "alleging the former DLNR official converted state firearms belonging to the Department of Land and Natural Resources to personal use by registering them in his name".

Recently, information obtained from court records show that on October 9, 2014, Mr. Tarey William Kahana Low was indicted on at least 30 counts involving sexual assault in the1st and 3rd degrees in the Fifth District Court of Kauai. Court records also show that on October 10, 2014, a 500 thousand dollar Bench Warrant was issued for Mr. Low after the indictment. On October 14, 2014, bail was posted by 24 Hour Bail Bonds, LLC. A hearing date is scheduled for October 21, 2014, at 9:00 AM before Honorable Judge J. K. Watanabe. Other information received on this matter reportedly indicates the Kauai Police Department and the Department of Land and Natural Resources have not recovered the firearms that were mentioned in the earlier alert. The case number for this matter is SPC14-1-000290.

The court records also show that some of the information is designated confidential (HCRR 2.19&9).

Former Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources employee reportedly is being investigated by law enforcement authorities:

Sources have informed the Carroll Cox of "THE CARROLL COX SHOW" that a former high ranking DLNR official on the Island of Kauai is being investigated for alleged sex offenses against two minor females. The report alleges that the sexual assaults against the two females occurred for several years. Also this same in official is being investigated for possible firearms violations "alleging the former DLNR official converted state firearms to personal use by registering them in his name".

These allegations come on the heels of a recent case involving Mr. Randy Honabrink, a DLNR official accused of downloading child pornography, who pled guilty to the charges.

Low former Kauai, Branch Chief for the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR)Conservation and Resources Enforcement Branch (DOCARE) is being investigated for possible violations involving firearms owned by or under the control of the DLNR.

We would like to ask that your agency provide any information that would speak to the veracity of the claims or allegations against Mr. Low. More specifically we would like ask your assistance in providing answers to the following questions:

If your agency have or received information regarding the above allegations, has an investigation been initiated and what is the status of that investigation?

What agencies are conducting the investigation?

What type of firearms and how many are involved?

Is Mr. Low currently employed by your agency? What is Mr. Low's initial employment date?

If Mr. Low is not currently employed by your agency, what was his final date of employment and what was his official title upon his departure?

We are trying to meet a deadline for this Sunday's show and respectfully ask that you provide a response to my questions before close of business 6/20/14.
