WARSHIP ANCHORS IN MAUNALUA BAY

Some residents of Hawaii Kai were surprised and alarmed to see this Australian military warship anchored inside Maunalua Bay. Witnesses to its arrival indicate the vessel came in close and appeared to have difficulty setting the anchor. They were also concerned the anchor and its chain caused damage to the coral reef. Recently the bay received notoriety for a restoration project to remove alien seaweed. The vessel is here to participate in the international war games known as RIMPAC. It is approximately 585 long.
