THE GENESIS OF DISCOVERY

The following emails, that also included pictures of the traffic backup and cleanup,  were sent to the Star Advertiser and the television news stations directly from the scene of the H-1 spill on August 31, 2013. Note that, in the emails, Carroll immediately identified SER Trucking as the hauler and confirmed the load was dredged material from the Hawaii Kai Marina after talking to SER Trucking in Waianae.

The load that spilled appear to have come from a truck owned by SER Trucking of Waianae.   The load appear to be dredged materials from a marine environment.   It had an odor similar to aquatic mud.

We observed a truck belonging to SER Trucking parked along the freeway in the West bound shoulder.

85-1389 Waianae Valley Rd. Owner, Ms. Sandra Silva.   If it is dredged material from a marine environment you might check with Hawaii Kai marina.  This is just a suggestion and a guess on my part.  There is a large dredging job at Hawaii Kai that generate a similar mud.

My hunch. Was right.  I just got off the phone with a representative of SER Trucking and was told the material was dredge material from the Hawaii Kai stream area and it was spilled because a latch broke on the truck. We are also aware SER has a stockpiling activity in Waianae at address supplied in earlier email.
