WARNING - RACIST, BIGOTED and SEXIST CONTENT

We are posting the Rex Johnson emails without editing.  We apologize in advance for the harsh language and the racist and bigoted content.  We feel that it is important to post them because we believe that the emails not only represent Mr. Rex Johnson’s mind set, they also show that Hawaii’s Governor Linda Lingle, The State Attorney General’s office, Senator President Colleen Hanabusa, Representative Calvin Say,  State Auditor Marion Higa and other State Legislators knew or should have known that the emails contained racist and bigoted content, did nothing, and allowed the board to falsely represent that they had thoroughly reviewed all emails on Rex Johnson’s official computer.   These elected and appointed officials turned their backs on the African-American community by assigning a greater importance to their political concerns.

The Governor has refused to grant an interview or release a June 25, 2008, letter from Ms. Marion Higa, the State Auditor, and she has not responded in writing to our formal written Uniform Information Practices Act Request for documents.   Ms. Higa’s office verbally advised that she will not release the June 25, 2008, letter.  She also refused to respond in writing to our formal written Uniform Information Practices Act Request for a copy of the letter and refused to grant an interview.

Senator Colleen Hanabusa also refused to grant an interview or release the June 25, 2008 letter from Ms. Marion Higa, the State Auditor.

Representative Calvin Say refused to return our telephone calls and did not release the June 25, 2008 letter from Ms. Marion Higa, the State Auditor, and he, too, will not grant an interview.

This Rex Johnson debacle is the gift that keeps on giving.

The content of Mr. Johnson’s emails is racist and bigoted, and his passing them on instead of deleting them  suggests that he is a racist and a bigot.  If   Hawaii’s Governor Linda Lingle, The State Attorney General’s office, Senator President Colleen Hanabusa, Representative Calvin Say, State Auditor Marion Higa and other State Legislators knew that the emails contained  racist and bigoted content, but they only publicly acknowledged the sexual content and ignored the racist and bigoted content, they refused to grant interviews,  they refused to respond to public records requests, and allowed Mr. Johnson to continue to represent the State of Hawaii, what does that make them?  Supporting, concealing, shielding, employing and harboring a racist, at a minimum, requires an explanation.

Again, we believe that Governor Lingle only publicly asked for Johnson’s resignation after she knew that the public would soon learn that the emails contained more than sexual content.   If she claims she didn’t know, then she should fire her Attorney General for failing to advise her that the email’s contents were racist and bigoted.

We rarely get to see the real colors of our leaders, now we are seeing red.
