Pokai Bay on the Waianae coast is one of the best family beaches on the Island of Oahu. The breakwater keeps the turquoise waters calm, and the beach is clean and wide. Also, the 1,000 year-old Kuilioloa Heiau on Kaeilio Point is a beatiful cultural site. However, the breakwater is crumbling away and is in dire need of repair. The breakwater is becoming a danger to the many children and fishermen who use it. Why is the government neglecting and turning its back on this community? The children may love hopping from rock to rock and diving into the water, but is it safe? What about the environmental impacts caused by erosion? How is it affecting the Heiau?
