HAZMAT AT WORK |
The Honolulu Fire Department Hazmat-1 unit responds to a report of a gas leak at the Pacifica Building on Kapiolani Blvd. Mr. Doug Davis told us that at approximately 8:30 AM on Friday, June 3, 2011, he detected a heavy odor of gas, possibly propane, in the stairwell around the 18th floor. He alerted Hazmat and he and other workers evacuated the building.
Davis and another 24 year old worker reported experiencing nausea and other physical discomfort. Fire and emergency personnel treated the two workers and they were released. The Honolulu Fire Department remained at the site to determine the type of gas and the cause. No other damages were reported.
