Subject: RE: Status of request on 42-inc water main

Aloha, Mr. Cox~

We apologize that it has taken us a while to respond to your inquiry. Here is the response that we sent to Hawaii News Now:

“The Board of Water Supply (BWS) has conducted several rounds of construction plan reviews for the Dillingham Blvd. segment of the rail project, but has not yet approved anyplans. Through this process, the BWS continues to work with HART to create construction plans that 1) minimize impacts on our water system, 2) meet BWS Water System Standards, and 3) enable the BWS to continue to adequately maintain and repair our watersystem. The most recent plans reviewed by the BWS indicate the need to relocate portionsof the transmission main but the scope of that work, as well as construction of bypasses, will depend on the final location of the rail system’s support structures, which is still under design. HART is responsible for any studies, work, impacts on the community, and costs associated with relocating BWS lines as required for rail construction.”

Mahalo and have a pleasant day,

~Tracy
