TAX DOLLARS ADRIFT

February 17, 2011

Years after the  five hundred thousand dollar  "Ala Wai Canal Phyto-Remediation Project"  was completed we found that equipment such as pipes , hoses, netting  and wires,  is littering the banks of the Ala Wai Canal.   We also found  several large, floating patches of the plant, Akulikuli, abandoned by the owners of the project.   We believe the city and state governments should immediately  order the researcher to remove the plants and equipment from the area.  If the researcher is unable or unwilling to do it then the city and state should immediately remove it and collect expenses from the researcher.  This is yet another case of tax dollars and resources being squandered and abused.

The person responsible for the  project was Mr. Chad Durbin, 808-595-2752 or 392-0210.
